Days That Last Forever

Today marks the beginning of my most favorite time of year. Labor Day being the last "beach holiday" after today the beach is unpopulated. I can walk for miles along the ocean and not see a single person.

From now until Christmas (that's when the snow birds start to come down) I have the beach to myself. 

 

Quite, still and pristine.

My own private seaside sanctuary where time stands still and the days last forever.

Treasures from the Sea

  I was out treasure hunting and stopped in at a vintage shop. 

I saw this jacket from across the room.

I made a bee line straight for it and snatched it up.

I couldn’t believe my eyes. I had never seen anything like it.

Nestled on a rack this beauty was patiently waiting to be discovered.  

  Luxuriously soft lamb leather marble dyed with sculptural ruffles, 

lace detailing and 3D inlayed shells! It’s like a mermaid jacket, 

encrusted with Piscean treasures from the sea.

Chantilly Lace

I love these long summer days that seem to last forever.

A Walk Before the Storm

Playing on the beach as a storm rolls in. A faint rumble of thunder in the distance. Clouds so close I can almost taste them, the light was pure magic.

Grecian Goddess Gown

This is perhaps one of the most sultry vintage dresses I have come across. Sheer, Sentual and Iconic.

First official Braid Day post!

     Braid Day will be a post dedicated to the beauty of the braid.  I learned to braid with 3 jump ropes tied together when I was 5.  “three pieces, only one could be in the middle so each piece takes a turn.”  I soon had the sense memory in my hands.  The rhythmic fluid motion that one gets threw practice.  I practiced on my dolls, myself, my long haired dog and any of my friends that would sit still.
     A little while ago Zorian gave me a book filled with exotic braids.  Some I had seen before and never knew how to do.  I made it my mission to learn and practice each one.  So whether you have short hair, long hair, curly hair or straight stay tuned for hairspiration Braid Day posts dedicated to the beauty of the braid.

Summer Moment

Sunrise by the sea as the first warm golden rays of sun cascade across the island. Quiet stillness of the early morning. Whispering serenade of the waves, the familiar call of the gulls. A sip of iced tea sweetened with honey. A soft breeze cooling my skin and warm sand between my toes. To me this is perfection in a moment.  What is Your perfect summer moment?

I keep my eyes peeled while treasure hunting for those elusive jeans that will make the penultimate exposed pocket cutoff shorts. I found these vintage Buffalo jeans and after a snip here and a cut there they magically transformed into exactly what I had been searching for. The exposed pockets are long and the fit is relaxed.
